Man up!

Man up is a expression that has become more and more popular recently. It is used to tell somebody to be brave, or take control of a difficult situation. The phrase plays on peoples’ idea that a man should be strong, responsible and calm, so if a guy is scared to do something, or wants to run away from his responsibilities, his friends may tell him to ‘man up!’.

For example: Jim “I like this girl, but I am afraid to ask her on a date. Bob: “Why don’t you just man up and ask her out?”

像个男子汉

“像个男子汉”这个短语最近变得越来越流行。它用于告诉某人要勇敢，或者学会去掌控困难的情境。这个短语体现男人应该坚强，负责任，并且冷静的特点。因此如果一个男人害怕做某事，或是想要逃避责任，他的朋友就会告诫他：“嗨！像个男子汉”

Cute as a Button

There are many ways to describe someone who is attractive or appealing. If something or someone is pretty in a way that makes another happy or joyous, this is cute. It is often used to describe something young or child-like. For some reason, if something is really cute, we compare it to a button. This is simply an idiom.

“Have you seen Erica’s new baby? He’s only a few days old!”

“No, but everybody is talking about it. They all say he’s just cute as a button.”

如纽扣般可爱

要想描述某人很有吸引力或是很有魅力的（表达）方式有很多。如果某事物或者某人漂亮得让人高兴或是愉快，这就是可爱（cute）。Cute这个词通常用于描述一些年轻或者像孩子一样的事物。由于特定的原因，如果某物真的很可爱，我们可以将它和纽扣做比较。cute as a button就是一个习语。

“你见过埃里卡的小孩了吗？他才刚出生不久。”
