Internet Talk

The internet is a great way to improve your English skills. The internet is full of new words and expressions that have been born from social networking websites such as Weibo and Facebook. For someone whom English is their second language this can be a little confusing and difficult to understand. On the internet we tend to shorten words or abbreviate. Every month a new expression will be trending online. You may have seen ‘LOL’ on forums and social networking sites around the internet; this is one of the most common, modern abbreviations! ‘LOL’ means ‘laugh out loud’. If you think something is so funny that you can’t help but laugh then you can use ‘LOL’! However you must be careful not to overuse abbreviations as your friends might find this a little annoying! E.g. “omg u were so funnilstnite LOL!” this is a little over the top!

“LOL”意思是(laugh out loud)大笑。 比如:“omg”(oh my god)噢,我的神,你昨晚太搞笑了(you were so funny last night LOL)这就有点使用的过头了。
