本周我们学习和微笑相关的词汇
1. smile /smaɪl/
n. 微笑；笑
常见搭配：
wear/ put on a smile 面带微笑
force/manage a smile 强颜欢笑
fake a smile 假装微笑
e.g. She tends to wear a genuine smile, which gives people a positive first impression.
e.g. In professional settings, people often force a smile to stay polite.
e.g. Some people are good at faking a smile even when they’re stressed.
v. 微笑
e.g. Smiling is often seen as a universal way to signal friendliness and ease social tension.
补充：ease tension 缓解压力；紧张情绪
习语补充：smile from ear to ear 笑得合不拢嘴
e.g. Whenever I achieve something meaningful, I can’t help but smile from ear to ear.
2. grin /grɪn/
v. 露齿而笑；咧嘴大笑 ��
注：When you grin, you smile broadly. 比smile 更夸张明显
搭配：
grin at someone 对某人咧嘴笑
grin widely 咧嘴大笑
e.g. The children grinned widely after winning the game.
e.g. She grinned at the camera before the photo was taken.
n. 露齿笑
搭配：a cheeky/ knowing grin 坏笑/ 心领神会的笑
e.g. The little boy had a cheeky grin after hiding his sister’s toy.
e.g. He gave me a knowing grin when I realized what he meant.
3. mask /mɑːsk/
v. 掩饰(情感);伪装
搭配：
mask true feelings / emotions隐藏真实感情
mask + with 用某物掩饰
e.g. People often mask their true feelings in public to maintain social harmony, which is why someone might smile even when they are upset.
e.g. In social interactions, some individuals mask their nervousness with humor to appear more confident.
近义表达：hide/ conceal 隐藏
e.g. People often conceal their true feelings to avoid conflict.
e.g. She tried to hide her nervousness with a polite smile.
4. signal /'sɪgn(ə)l/
v. 预示;表明;显示
搭配：
signal friendliness/confidence表示友好
signal interest 表示感兴趣
e.g. In many cultures, people smile to signal friendliness and make others feel at ease.
e.g. Non-verbal cues like smiling or making eye contact often signal friendliness.
e.g. Raising your hand can signal interest in participating.
补充：feel at ease 舒适、不紧张的状态
signal + that 从句
e.g. Non-verbal cues, like gestures or facial expressions, often signal that someone is approachable.
补充：non-verbal cues 非语言信号[指的是不通过语言，而通过动作、表情、手势、眼神等传递的信息]
