北京时间2日凌晨，美国国务卿布林肯紧急表态，呼吁中方如果佩洛西访台别加剧紧张局势。
据路透社消息，布林肯称，众议院议长佩洛西是否进行可能的对台湾的访问将由她自行决定，但他呼吁中国不要因此加剧紧张局势。
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Monday that a potential visit to Taiwan by House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi would be entirely her decision, but called on China not to escalate tensions in the event of a visit.

报道称，布林肯在纽约参加联合国有关《不扩散核武器条约》审议大会结束后宣称，“如果议长决定访问台湾，而中国试图制造某种危机或以其他方式加剧紧张局势，将完全是北京的责任。”
"If the speaker does decide to visit and China tries to create some kind of crisis or otherwise escalate tensions, that would be entirely on Beijing," Blinken said after nuclear nonproliferation talks at the United Nations.
布林肯还表示，“如果她（佩洛西）决定访问，我们希望他们（中国）采取负责任的行动，不要让事态进一步升级。”
"We are looking for them (China) — in the event she decides to visit — to act responsibly and not to engage in any escalation going forward."

这番言论在社交媒体上引发热议，不少网友认为这是一种“我去你家挑衅但你不能动怒”的强盗逻辑。
中国日报欧盟分社社长陈卫华评论称，“典型的美国作风。明明是佩洛西一直在升级紧张事态。”（Typical US style. It is Pelosi who is escalating the tension.）
此番评论得到很多网友的回应。

外交部：人民解放军绝不会坐视不管
在8月1日外交部例行记者会上，有记者就佩洛西窜访台湾一事提问，发言人赵立坚表示，中方近来已经多次向美方表明坚决反对美众议院议长佩洛西访台的严重关切和严正立场。
赵立坚说，中方正密切关注佩洛西众议长的行程。她如果访台，将是对中国内政的粗暴干涉，严重损害中国主权和领土完整，肆意践踏一个中国原则，严重威胁台海和平稳定，严重破坏中美关系，导致非常严重的事态和后果。
“我们要再次正告美方，中方正严阵以待，中国人民解放军绝不会坐视不管，必将采取坚决应对和有力反制措施，捍卫自身主权和领土完整。”赵立坚表示，美方应该做的是恪守一个中国原则和中美三个联合公报规定，兑现拜登总统不支持“台独”的承诺，不得安排佩洛西众议长访台。
China warned on Monday that its military will "not sit idly by" should United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visit Taiwan. "The Chinese side is fully prepared for any eventuality," Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a regular news conference on Monday. "China will definitely take strong and resolute measures to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity."
有记者问赵立坚，关于佩洛西的访问，你刚才说军方不会坐视不管，说中方严阵以待，想请问中国军方会做出什么样的反应？是不是前所未有的反应？
赵立坚表示，作为美国政府的第3号人物，佩洛西的身份决定了她访问台湾必然高度敏感，不管她什么时候以什么方式赴台，这都将严重违反一个中国原则和中美三个联合公报规定，严重破坏中美关系，必将造成恶劣的政治影响。
“我刚才清楚地向美方做出进一步的明确表态，如果佩洛西众议长访问台湾，必将采取坚决应对和有力的反制措施，捍卫自身的主权和领土完整。至于是什么措施，如果她敢去，那就让我们拭目以待吧。”
When asked what measures China will take if Pelosi visits Taiwan, Zhao said: "If she dares to go, then let's wait and see." Zhao said that "it is believed the US must have been fully aware of the strong and clear message sent out by the Chinese side". If Pelosi, who is second in the line of succession to the US presidency, visits Taiwan, it would be a gross interference in China's internal affairs, severely undermine China's sovereignty and territorial integrity and trample on the one-China principle, Zhao said. The spokesman added that such a visit would severely threaten cross-Straits peace and stability and undermine China-US relations, thus leading to a very serious situation and consequences.
