XVW Architectuur was founded by Xander Vermeulen Windsant in 2010, headquartered in Amsterdam, and focuses on a wide range of projects, from innovative housing solutions to large-scale master plans and transportation infrastructure.After winning the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2017, XVW Architectuur gained widespread recognition for its "bottom-up" design approach. This design philosophy emphasizes engaging with the public to uncover and enhance the unique identity of a place, rather than simply imposing a new character.

DeFlat Kleiburg

Many cities' housing strategies often focus solely on building more houses each year, while overlooking a more fundamental question: what kind of housing do we actually need to build? The Kleiburg project helps us reimagine a new architectural model that not only responds to the changing demands of 21st-century family structures and lifestyles but also explores a balance between revitalizing traditional building types and experimenting with new, untested approaches. Whether it involves renovating existing structures or designing new housing models, both are crucial.

NL Architects 和 XVW architectuur 联合设计的 DeFlat Kleiburg 改造项目在 40 个提案中脱颖而出，成为 5 个入围项目之一。
并最终赢得了 2017 年欧盟当代建筑奖——密斯凡德罗奖，这是欧洲最负盛名的建筑奖项之一。
The DeFlat Kleiburg renovation project, jointly designed by NL Architects and XVW architectuur, stood out among 40 proposals and became one of the five shortlisted projects.
It ultimately won the 2017 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award, one of the most prestigious architectural awards in Europe.
DeFlat Kleiburg 改造项目于 2016 年竣工，这座巨大的历史住宅区高 11 层，长 400 米，包含 500 套公寓。2017 年，Kleiburg (克莱堡)因其现实生活理想主义以及简洁朴素的建筑风格而荣获著名的密斯凡德罗奖，是首个获得大奖的现有建筑改造项目，而非全新建筑。
The DeFlat Kleiburg renovation project was completed in 2016. This massive historic residential complex stands 11 stories high, spans 400 meters in length, and comprises 500 apartments. In 2017, Kleiburg was awarded the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Award for its pragmatic idealism and simple, unembellished architectural style. It became the first renovation of an existing building, rather than a new structure, to win this renowned prize.

XVW Architectuur's residential project at Parkvilla Brederode offers flexible apartment layouts, allowing each owner to customize their living space according to their needs, making the building not just a place to live, but also a part of the residents' personal expression.

这种灵活性也使建筑与其周围自然环境相互融合，悬挑阳台使住户能更好地与自然景观互动，创造出一种与环境和谐共处的生活体验。
This flexibility also allows the building to blend with its surrounding natural environment. The cantilevered balconies enable residents to better interact with the natural landscape, creating a living experience that harmoniously coexists with the environment.

Parkeergarage A1停车场则将功能性和美学巧妙结合。通过别具一格的钢网斜交错立面和反射光线的涂层，停车场看起来像是街区的入口而不是传统的交通设施。
The Parkeergarage A1 parking facility cleverly combines functionality with aesthetics. With its distinctive steel mesh crisscross façade and light-reflecting coating, the parking structure appears more like an entryway to the neighborhood rather than a traditional traffic facility.
这种设计不仅满足了高密度混合用途社区的停车需求，还通过地面层的健康中心等公共设施，提升了建筑的社会价值。它以多功能的形式融入社区，增强了人们对建筑空间的归属感。
This design not only meets the parking needs of a high-density mixed-use community, but also enhances the building’s social value through public amenities such as the health center on the ground floor. It integrates into the community in a multifunctional way, fostering a sense of belonging to the architectural space.
