Text 1

M: I don't think I answered the fourth question correctly on the test.

W: You are still worrying about it? It's too late now.

Text 2

M: What is free and fun for us to do?

W: Let's go to the history museum. Every first Sunday of the month, admission is free. That's tomorrow! Let's go.

Text 3

M: I'm going out to get some coffee. Would you like anything?

W: Well, I've been drinking too much coffee recently. Thanks for asking. I'd just drink the tea I have right here.

Text 4

W: I certainly hope the library will be open this Saturday.

M: Here are the library hours! Weekdays 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, on Saturdays 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, closed Sundays.

Text 5

W: There was a storm warning on the radio this morning. Did you happen to be listening?

M: No, but what a pity! I guess we'll have to change our sailing plans. Would you rather play tennis or go bicycle-|riding?

Text 6

M: Hi, Kathy, it's Jason.

W: Hi, Jason. I haven't heard from you in a while.

M: Well, I've been busy. I've started my own company.

W: Wow, what kind of business is it?

M: Just a small online store. (6)I'm hiring staff and want you to come work for me.

W: (7)Actually, I just got started working at the old company again.

M: Oh, I didn't realize you were going back.

Text 7

W: Can you believe that we've finally found a house?

M: Good for you. Tell me about the house.

W: It doesn't look good outside, but it is lovely inside.

M: How nice! How many bedrooms does it have?

W: (8)Well, it has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one big sitting room and a modern kitchen.

M: Then your two boys don't need to share a room. They are happy with it?

W: Yeah, they can have their own rooms. (9)What interests me most is the small garden before the house. You know I love gardening so much.

Text 8

M: Is it me, or is it really hard to understand this speaker?

W: You're right. It's not that he has an accent like some of the other speakers from another country. (10)It's just that he is speaking too softly. Do you think it would be rude to ask him to turn his microphone up a little bit?

M: I don't think he's wearing one. Either that or he's turned it off.

W: That's crazy. There must be four hundred people here.

M: This part of the conference has turned into such a waste of time. (11)Maybe we should leave and try to find another lecture.

W: I can't do that. I come here specifically to hear this guy's speech. (12)I think I'll just go up to him at the end of the speech and try to ask him some questions.

M: Good idea. Would you mind if I followed you up there? It might be the only way to get anything out of this hour.

W: No problem.

Text 9(13题为推理判断题

W: Thank you for coming down today, Mr Parker.Would you like some coffee?

M: No, thank you.

W: Mr Parker, please tell us what you saw on the night of February 18th.

M: Well, (14)I was walking home from work that night. I usually drive to work, but my car was in the shop that day. Anyway, I saw this little old lady crossing the street, and this guy came out of nowhere and grabbed her purse.

W: Did he have a gun, Mr Parker?

M: It was dark, but I'm sure I didn't see any weapons. He did push her down to the ground, though. She screamed, and the man ran away.

W: Did you see what he was wearing?

M: He had a black baseball hat on. (15)He was wearing blue jeans and white shoes.

W: Do you remember how tall he was? (16)What about his build( 体形)?

M: He seemed kind of normal, I suppose…

W: Could you be more specific, Mr Parker?

M: I'm sorry. I'm really not good at guessing those kinds of things. He is a little shorter and a little heavier than me. I'm six feet tall and I weigh 190 pounds.

W: That's very helpful, Mr Parker. Thank you.

Text 10

M: Here, we have Washington Square Park, which is one of the most famous New York City public parks. It has played a central role in every major cultural movement in New York City for the last 100 years. (17)As you can see, it is located between 6th St.and 4th St.in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. The park covers eight city blocks, or just under ten acres. Surrounding the park on all sides is New York University; those brick buildings covered in dark green plants have been around since 1871, when the park first opened. Many of those buildings used to serve as homes and studios for artists, and the benches in the park are popular places for painters, poets, dancers, and singers to get together. The park's fountain area has long been one of the city's most popular spots for residents and tourists, and (18)children love to skate and play games around the fountain. (19)There are two special areas for dogs to run around, and during the hot summer months, many food and drink stands are set up inside the park. One of Washington Square Park's most recognizable features is the Washington Arch, (20)which was built in 1889. It was modeled after the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, which was built in 1806.
