在英文中,关于“贵”,除了 expensive,还有许多花样百出的说法。比如说:cost arm and a leg, 贵到花费了一只手和一只腿,可想而知就是“贵到吓人”了。

今天我们就跟着 Summer 老师以及 Colin 老师一起,来聊聊关于“贵”的各种英语表达吧⬇️

贵得离谱

cost an arm and a leg

cost a fortune 花了大价钱

  • Word has it that the food costs an arm and a leg.

    据说那里的食物贵得离谱。

  • You know, back in my city, taxis will cost you an arm and a leg.

    你知道,在我的城市,坐出租车贵的离谱。

  • This must have cost him a fortune.

    这肯定花了他不少钱。

  • Good food need not cost a fortune.

    好的食物不一定要花很多的钱。

昂贵的

costly

the price goes through the roof 非常贵

  • I saw a fancy cell phone, but it was costly.

    我看到了一款很高端的手机,但是太贵了。

  • They bribed him with costly presents.

    他们用贵重的礼物贿赂他。

  • The housing price and the rent has gone through the roof.

    房价和房租都特别贵。

定价过高的

overpriced

pricey (informal)昂贵的

  • We all agree that the wine is overpriced.

    我们都同意这个酒确实是定价过高了。

  • I went and had an overpriced cup of coffee in the hotel cafeteria.

    我去酒店的咖啡厅喝了一杯要价奇高的咖啡。

  • That sounds fun, but pricey.

    听起来很有趣,但是也价格不菲。

  • Medical insurance is very pricey.

    医疗保险的费用很昂贵。

大价钱

top dollar

(someone) to pay top dollar 人做主语,花大价钱买...

(something) to charge top dollar 物做主语,...要很多钱

  • People are willing to wait in line for hours to buy milk tea and pay top dollar.

    很多人不仅愿意排队,还愿意花很多钱买奶茶。

  • Even if they know the latest cell phone charges top dollar, they still fall for it.

    尽管他们知道这个最新的手机很贵,他们还是很喜欢。
