bit part /ˈbɪt pɑːt/ n. 小角色

讲解：Bit，表示「一小段」，part 意思就是「一部分」，合起来一个词表示「在戏剧或电影中扮演一个小角色」。

例句1：She playedbit partsin 14 movies that year.

那一年，她在14部电影中扮演小角色。

例句2：I was playing abit partin an important historical drama.

我在一出重要的历史剧里扮演一个小角色。

antagonist /ænˈtæɡənɪst/ n. 反派角色；对手

讲解：这个词表示「电视剧里的反派」，会相对正式一些，一般口语里面更常用 the bad guy，or the villain. 而它的反义词就是 protagonist，就是表示「主角」。

例句1：He mostly played the bit parts orantagonistsin the shows.

他在电视剧中大多扮演小角色或反派角色。

例句2：In the early years, they wereantagonists.

在最初几年，双方都是敌对方。

unsung heroes /ˌʌnˈsʌŋ/ /ˈhɪro/ n. 幕后英雄；无名英雄

讲解：Sung 是 sing 的过去分词形式，unsung 这个单词的意思就是「没有被歌颂的」。

例句1：They are among theunsung heroesof our time.

他们是我们这个时代未被赞颂的英雄当中的一群人。

例句2：The series highlights the strength of theunsung heroes.

这部电视剧突出了无名英雄的力量。

overwhelmed /ˌoʊvərˈwelmd/ adj. 被压倒的，被淹没的；（强烈地影响而使）不知所措的

讲解：前缀 over- 表示 too much 的含义，后面的 whelm，作动词，可以表示「淹没，覆盖」。所以 overwhelmed，就可以表示「情感冲击太大，承受不了了」，用网络流行语也就是「破防了」。

例句1：I wasoverwhelmedwith sadness after finding out what happened.

得知所发生的事后，我真的太难过了。

例句2：I wasoverwhelmedby pressure at work.

late bloomer /'leit'blu:mə/ n. 大器晚成者

讲解：Bloom，做动词可以表示「开花」，而 late bloomer，英文解释就是：someone who becomes successful, attractive, etc., at a later time in life than other people, 也就是表示「大器晚成的人」。

例句1：She was alate bloomeras a writer.

她是一个大器晚成的作家。

例句2：The leading actor in the TV show Breaking bad can be considered as alate bloomer.

讲解：指的是非常喜欢某人或者某事，以至于其成为了你的「弱点」或者是「软肋」。

put oneself in someone's shoes 换位思考，设身处地地想

讲解：字面含义就是「把你放到另一个人的鞋子里面」，真正的含义是 to imagine oneself in the situation of another person, so as to understand with their opinion, or point of view，中文的意思就是「设身处地地想」。

例句1：Before being quick to judge someone for their actions, you should always try toput yourself in their shoes.

在急着去评判某人的行为之前，你应该先试试换位思考，想想他们的观点。

例句2：Put yourself in my shoesand then tell me what you would have done.

设身处地为我想想，告诉我你会怎么做。

empathize /ˈempəθaɪz/ v. 有同感，起共鸣

empathy n. 共鸣，同情

例句1：We can't help butempathizewith them.

我们忍不住和他们有共鸣。

例句2：No two humans ever communicated to the fullest extent if they did notempathizewith the mind of the other.

如果两个人没有产生共鸣的话，他们绝不可能真正理解对方，深度了解彼此。
