高考分数如期出炉，填报志愿成了家长们最关心的话题。最近一场关于填报志愿的争论，在全网引发热议。争议源于张雪峰的一句话：“如果你家孩子要报考这个专业，我建议你二话不说，先把他打晕再说。”
那么报考志愿，到底是兴趣优先，还是着重考虑就业因素？下面给大家讲一个关于填志愿的小故事。
梁从诫是林徽因和梁思成的儿子，也是我国著名的历史学者，他当年也有过填志愿的苦恼。由于父母都是清华大学建筑系的教授，他从小就被父母培养建筑方面的爱好，希望能够子承父业。
高考时，林徽因让梁从诫报考了清华大学，可没想到，他距离上清华还差2分！ 林徽因不相信儿子会落榜，请求复查试卷，可没想到的是，梁从诫的分数并没有错，她还在试卷中，看到了梁从诫写下的11个大字：我不喜欢建筑，我喜欢历史！

shilly-shally/ˈʃɪli ˌʃæli/ v. 犹豫，纠结
讲解：这个单词读起来很好玩，意思也很常见，表示犹豫，踌躇，也就是很纠结 you take a long time to do something, especially to make a decision. 是个非正式的表达，同时带有一点贬义。
例句：It's understandable that some should beshilly-shallyingover what major of which university to apply for.
有些人申请学校和专业的时候很犹豫，这是可以理解的。

the National College Entrance Examination
高考
gaokao 高考
讲解：全国大学入学考试，那也就是高考，或者现在可以直接用拼音来表示，搭配用 take the gaokao.
例句：Before or after students take thegaokao, they need to fill in a form listing the colleges they want to get into.
高考前后，学生需要填表，列出自己想去的大学。

application /ˌæplɪˈkeɪʃən/ n. 申请，志愿
讲解：这个 application，很多人第一反应可能是手机上的应用 app，那除了表示应用，也可以表示申请，所以大学志愿就是用这个词，college application or application process，如果要用上动词，加上填报，可以说 fill out college application.
例句：Before filling out collegeapplication, many would turn to the internet to get as much information as they can.
填志愿之前，大家会去网上找很多资料。

choice phobia disorder 选择困难症
讲解：phobia 就表示对...的恐惧症，choice phobia disorder 就是选择困难。
例句：For a lot of people, they have to overcomechoice phobia disorderregarding the application process.
很多人选专业的时候需要克服选择困难症。

一本；本科一批
the second batch of undergraduate
二本；本科二批
the third batch of undergraduate
三本；本科三批
讲解：batch 表示批次，所以一本二本学校的正式表达就是用到这个词；那更加通俗易懂的翻译可以这么说，top public universities，表示一本，basic public universities，表示二本，然后 profit colleges 表示三本。
例句：Beijing has also combined itsfirst and second batchesof universitiesfor students to apply, but allows students to apply to up to 16 universities and 6 majors at each.
北京也将本科一批、二批合并，设置16所平行志愿高校，每个志愿高校设置6个志愿专业。

key university 重点大学
world-class university 世界一流大学
讲解：其实211，985就是重点大学嘛，所以简单点说，就是 national key universities，或者说世界一流大学，world-class university.
例句：I got admitted by aworld-class university.
我被重点大学录取了。

major /ˈmeɪdʒər/ n. 专业
讲解：这个词可以做名词，表示专业或者是学这个专业的学生，还可以做动词，搭配用 major in.
例句1：I’m a Frenchmajor.
我是法语专业的学生。
例句2：Over the last decade,majorssuch as software engineering, network engineering, and information security have consistently ranked among the top 10 in terms of monthly incomes for fresh graduates
过去十年，像软件工程、网络工程和信息安全这样的专业，一直排在毕业生薪资前十位。
