苏州工业园区德威联合书院是一所招收14-18周岁青少年的国际化海外教育学校，学校成立于2012年，秉承创始学校——英国伦敦德威公学的教育理念，专注于为学生提供具有挑战性、学术性的综合型教育方法。苏州工业园区德威联合书院以优化的英国国家课程为基准。学生在11年级结束时参加IGCSE全球统考，继而在高年级获得由剑桥国际教育评估（CAIE）和爱德思授予的A-Level资格。学校教学语言均为英语，使得每个学生都能受益于结构化的文化课程。

随着节日季节的临近，苏州德威的西班牙语课为学生准备了为期一周的充满节日氛围和多元文化的特别体验，这将是一系列假期限定的特别课堂。继上一次西班牙语公开课取得成功后，Maria Villaescusa老师再次为苏州德威的学生们开启一场语言学习与节日欢乐美妙融合的旅程！

让创意的色彩和祝福的暖流充满教室

为了拉开节日假的序幕，学生们尽情发挥他们的艺术细胞，用西班牙语书写和装饰贺卡。用西班牙语表达节日祝福，不仅能让他们在学习特定节日词汇表达时印象更为深刻，还能培养创造力，在书写问候祝词的同时也让课堂沉浸于温暖温馨的氛围中。

有一百个国家就有一百种庆祝佳节方式

之西班牙版

各国的节日氛围各具特色，苏州德威的学生们有机会深入了解西班牙的文化传统。除了探索节日习俗外，他们还通过尝试图文配对——连线节日或冬季相关词汇与相应图片，让新词汇的学习更加生动形象。这种互动的方式也让学生能够更清晰地掌握新单词，并与文化背景建立起有意义的联系。在语言探索过程中，Villaescusa老师还鼓励学生分享中国的节日传统，中西方文化之间的共鸣和碰撞让学生们对于多元文化有了更深刻的领悟。

西班牙儿童过节必吃项目：“煤炭”！

还有什么比通过美食来探索一种文化更好的方式呢？Villaescusa老师特意从西班牙带回了他们节日传统零食分享给学生们，包括如外表如煤炭一般的煤炭糖（Coal Candy）和杏仁小食。从炭糖的甜滋滋到杏仁点心的浓郁坚果风味，这些初次尝鲜的新口味让学生们体验到当地传统文化的精髓！

Villaescusa老师为学生们介绍到，煤炭糖在西班牙传统中占有特殊的地位。在西班牙，每个孩子在过年时都会收到一大块煤炭糖，他们会兴高采烈地直接舔着吃。有别于此吃法，Villaescusa老师将糖果敲碎，分享给所有学生品尝，“我带来了一些西班牙美食，让学生品尝。这样，他们不仅学会了怎么说，还明白了这些东西是什么”。这种共同体验让学生们沉浸在西班牙的欢乐风俗中。

线上探险，线下收获

在数字时代，学生们即将开始一场激动人心的线上虚拟探险。这一互动体验挑战了他们的语言技能，学生们节日主题的谜题中穿梭，在节日氛围中培养团队合作精神和解决问题的能力。Villaescusa老师说：“参与这些文化相关的游戏有助于学生们更好地了解世界和其他国家的文化，这无疑有助于培养他们的全球胜任力。”

As the holiday season approaches, our Spanish class is gearing up for a festive and culturally enriching experience that promises to be even more special than before. Following the success of our previous Spanish Open Class, Ms Maria Villaescusa is infusing the joy of holidays into our Spanish curriculum. Get ready for a delightful blend of language learning and holiday cheer!

Decorating the classroom

with Language and Creativity

To kick off the festivities, students indulged their artistic side by writing and decorating greeting cards in Spanish. This activity not only sharpened their language skills but also fostered creativity as they express holiday wishes in a new language and share the greetings and warmth with each other.

Spain Edition

The holiday vibe transcends borders, and our students had the unique opportunity to dive into the cultural traditions of Spain. Beyond merely exploring festive customs, they actively engaged in the learning process by practicing linking holiday or winter-related vocabulary with corresponding pictures. This interactive approach allows students to grasp new words more clearly and make meaningful connections to the cultural context. Throughout this linguistic exploration, Ms Villaescusa also fostered an exchange of cultural insights by encouraging students to share our holiday traditions, creating a dynamic and enriching learning environment.

Gastronomic Adventure:

Sampling Spanish Snacks

What better way to explore a culture than through its food? Our Spanish class will embark on a delectable journey, savoring an assortment of traditional Spanish snacks, including the whimsically festive Christmas Coal Candy and the delightful almond delights stuffed with turron. From the playful sweetness of the coal-shaped treats to the rich and nutty flavors of the almond delights, these ‘new tastes’ provide a flavorful gateway for students to experience the warmth and essence of local life for the first time!

As introduced by Ms Villaescusa, the Christmas Coal Candy holds a special place in Spanish traditions. In Spain, it's a yearly ritual for every Spanish child to receive a bulk of Coal Candy, a treat that they joyfully lick directly. In our class, Ms Villaescusa adds a touch of holiday magic by scraping the candy and sharing it with all the students to try, “I brought some Spanish treats for them to taste. And that way they not only learn how to say it, but they also understand what these things are.” This shared experience not only brings the class together but also immerses them in the joyous customs of Spain, making our Spanish class a truly festive and cultural celebration.

Unlocking the Roomscape:

A Virtual Adventure

In the digital age, our students are set to embark on an exciting online adventure – a Roomscape game with a Spanish twist. This interactive experience will challenge their language skills as they navigate through holiday-themed puzzles, fostering teamwork and problem-solving in a festive setting. “Participating in these cultural activities and helps our students have a better understanding of the world and of other peoples and definitely contributes to their global mindedness,” said Ms Villaescusa.

As we conclude the week’s uniquely festival-themed Spanish class, our students not only refine their language skills but also embark on a journey that transcends linguistic boundaries. Our school, championing the ethos of fostering global perspectives, encourages students to broaden their international horizons. In doing so, we not only cultivate academic prowess but also emphasise the importance of nurturing creativity and celebrating diversity.

The joy of the season resonates not only in their developing linguistic abilities but also in the building of a more extensive community that values collaboration and embraces differences. By merging language, culture, and the festive spirit, we create an immersive learning experience that goes beyond the classroom. We will continue to shape a community where curiosity knows no bounds, and the beauty of diversity is celebrated in every language spoken and shared!
