In the second round of the WTA 500 Tokyo Open women's singles on October 24th, Chinese player Zheng Qinwen, the top seed of the tournament who had a bye in the first round, defeated Japanese player Moyuka Uchijima with a score of 7-5, 6-0 and advanced to the quarter-finals of the women's singles. Zheng will face the 8th seed Fernandez in the next round. In the third round of the Wuhan Open women's singles previously, she had defeated Fernandez with a score of 5-7, 6-3, 6-0.
