跟莎士比亚类似，英国大文豪狄更斯在他著述等身的一生中，也创造了许多英文单词，有一些至今尚在使用。我们今天就来捋一捋，看认识多少：

Abuzz：形容词，嘤嘤嗡嗡的，形容人声嘈杂。例句：The room was abuzz over the latest scandal.

Boredom：名词，厌倦，无聊之意。例句：He had given up attending lectures out of sheer boredom.

Butterfinger：名词，黄油手，指做事毛手毛脚的人。例句："Butterfingers!" she called as I dropped the hot plates.

Devil-may-care：形容词，无忧无虑的。例句：Please assume a devil-may-care attitude in the game.

Flummox：动词，使困惑。例句：I was flummoxed by her question.

On the rampage: 疯狂的暴动。例句：Gangs of youths went on the rampage in the city yesterday.

Creeps: 名词，毛骨悚然的感觉。例句：Charles Dickens may not give you the creeps (well, maybe some of his characters do), but he did give you the phrase the creeps.

Boffin: 名词，科学家，专家，来自狄更斯小说《我们共同朋友》中的人物。例句：Drainage experts, sunlight specialists, energy boffins, flood-risk experts and more have been summoned.
