影片根据“美国短视频小说王者”科林·胡佛同名畅销小说改编,劳伦·莱文与胡佛共同编剧。原作讲述了肯娜·罗文在服刑五年后回到小镇,希望与4岁的女儿团聚,尽管每个人都想让她们分开。唯一没有疏远肯娜的是当地一家酒吧的老板莱杰·沃德,他是肯娜与女儿之间为数不多的联系人。肯娜和莱杰顶着压力建立起联结,但随着他们爱情的升温,风险也在增加。肯娜必须找到一种方法来改正她过去的错误,以便建立一个充满希望和治愈的未来。
