Essex cricket director Chris Silverwood 刚经历了一周过山车。七天前他们提前一天击败 Hampshire，转头就被 Somerset 三天速通，首局只拿了 149 分。

「Cricket is a great leveller and we've found ourselves on the receiving end this week，」Silverwood 对 BBC Essex 说。这位前英格兰国家队主帅没找借口，只甩了一句：「Losing two wickets in five minutes before lunch really took the wind out of our sails.」

第二局他们曾追到 131-3，Silverwood 以为还有戏。结果隔天早上又崩了，245 分收场，Somerset 六局就收割比赛。「Defending such a small score like that, it usually happens in a rush，」他承认，「We needed more runs to play with.」

周五他们要在 Edgbaston 打 Warwickshire，队长 Tom Westley 和南非外援 Wiaan Mulder 都待定。Westley 手指裂了道口子还带点骨裂，Silverwood 的原话是：「Let's see if he can get the glove on and hold the bat first.」
