Right, today I'm going to talk about a teacher who had a real influence on me.
嗯，我想说的是我上中学时的一位历史老师……
Her name was Ms. Li, and she taught us how to read history, not just memorise dates.
她教我们怎么读史料，不是光背年代。
She always said history is not about reciting facts — it's about learning to ask questions.
她说历史不是背事实，而是学会提问。
So instead of asking us to repeat what the book said, she encouraged us to question the sources.
所以她不让我们复述课本，而是鼓励我们去质疑来源。
That completely changed the way I look at the past.
这彻底改变了我……看待过去的方式。
I remember one particular lesson about local history — the Hexi Corridor, where my hometown is.
我记得有一节课讲本地史，河西走廊，就是我老家那一带。
She brought in old local records and said, "Don't trust a single book; cross-check."
她搬来地方旧志，说「别信一本书，要交叉核对」。这句话我到现在都记得。
Because of her, I became genuinely interested in where I come from,
受她影响，我对家乡的历史产生了真正的兴趣，
which is actually why I'm now digging into the history of Liangzhou.
这也是我现在一头扎进凉州史的原因。
What I learned from her is simple: education isn't about pouring answers in,
我从她那儿学到的最朴素的一点：教育不是把答案灌进去，
it's about teaching people how to think for themselves.
而是教人自己去思考。
That, I think, is the biggest gift a teacher can give.
我想，那是一位老师能给的最大的礼物。
语法笔记
- have a real influence on someone — influence 可作名词/动词；名词用法
have an influence on sb，动词用法influence sb - instead of + V-ing —
instead of asking us to recite，of 后接动名词，不接原形。 - cross-check — 交叉核对，雅思/学术口语高频词，指用多个来源互证。
- Don't trust a single book — 祈使句否定：Don't + 动词原形。
- the way I look at the past — 定语从句省略了 in which：
the way (in which) I look at… - 中式英语易错（重点）
- 「学习知识」≠ learn knowledge → 应为 gain / acquire knowledge
- 「提高知识」≠ improve knowledge → 应为 broaden / expand one's knowledge
- 「老师教我们很多」≠ The teacher taught us a lot of knowledge → The teacher taught us a lot 或 equipped us with knowledge
- have a real influence on someone — 对某人产生真正影响
- cross-check the sources — 交叉核对资料（学术感拉满）
- question the sources / recite facts — 质疑来源 / 背事实（对比用词，显思辨）
- influence → impact, shape, leave a mark on
- encourage → motivate, inspire, push
- important → crucial, vital, significant
- teacher → mentor, instructor（想拔高时用 mentor） 陪练提示：这道题很容易讲成「老师很好、我很感谢」，但雅思 Part 2 看的是具体场景 + 个人变化。上面那段用了「一节具体的课 + 一句话 + 它怎么改变了我」，比空泛抒情得分更稳。
