Initially, a black-and-white TVwas priced at10 yen,considerably higher thanthe average monthly income of 30 yen. Its pricethendropped remarkablyto 40 yen in 1968, before falling marginally to38 yen in 1973. Colored televisionsentered the marketin 1958 at 180 yen,more than twice the price ofa black-and-white model in the same year.This was followed bya dramatic decrease to110 yen in 1963, after which there was a slight decline to90 yen by the end of the period.
