沉木抑或称为是硅化木,是真正的木化石,是几百万年或更早以前的树木被迅速埋葬地下后,部分被地下水中的Si02(二氧化硅)替换而成的树木化石它保留了树木的木质结构和纹理，常被用来制作顶级钢琴的黑键，被喻为木材中的黑金,价格高昂。
Wood or silicified wood, is the real fossil wood, is millions of years or more ago trees were quickly buried in the ground, partly replaced by Si02(silica) in the groundwater of the tree fossil, it retains the wood structure and texture of the tree, often used to make the black keys of the top piano, is likened to the black gold in wood, the price is high.
主要原因是远古的森林在自然力量作用下被大量埋入地底，木头在高压、低温、缺氧的地质环境下浸泡于二氧化硅泡和溶液中,树木中的碳元素逐渐被二氧化硅交代,并保留树木的原始形态及构造特点。
