Chineseenterprises showcase the power of Chinese brands in Africa!

2024年中非合作论坛峰会将于9月4日至6日在京举行,这是中非合作论坛第四次以峰会形式举办。中非合作论坛是中国和非洲国家之间在平等互利基础上的集体对话机制,成立于2000年,其宗旨是平等磋商、增进了解、扩大共识、加强友谊、促进合作。

The 2024 Forumon China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) will be held in Beijing from September 4thto 6th, marking the fourth time that FOCAC will be held as a summit.The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) is a collective dialoguemechanism between China and African countries on the basis of equality andmutual benefit. Founded in 2000, its purpose is to consult on an equal footing,enhance understanding, expand consensus, strengthen friendship and promotecooperation.

近年来,中非合作不断取得跨越式发展,2023年,中非贸易额达到2821亿美元的历史峰值,同比保持增长1.5%,中国已连续15年保持非洲第一大贸易伙伴地位。

近期,《对话》邀请中国在非洲投资的不同领域的企业代表,共话他们在非洲市场中展现的中国智慧和中国方案。

In recent years,China-Africa cooperation has made leaps and bounds. In 2023, China-Africa tradereached a historic peak of 282.1 billion US dollars, a year-on-year growth of1.5%. China has remained Africa's largest trading partner for 15 consecutiveyears. Recently, Dialogue (aCCTV programme ) invitedrepresentatives from different sectors of Chinese investment in Africa to sharetheir Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions in the African market.

戴和根:中国铁建是“中企在非第一品牌”,可以用“56511”这几个数字来说明。“56”是我们在非洲耕耘了56年。1968年,我们响应祖国的号召,用8年时间修通了1860公里的坦赞铁路。这条非洲大动脉铸就了牢固的中非友谊,也让我们成为新中国最早走进非洲的企业。“51”是51个国家,非洲一共有54个国家,中国铁建在51个国家开展业务和设立分支机构。最后一个是“1”,我们56年间在非洲开创了诸多第一。我们投资建设运营了中国在非洲大陆的第一个自贸区——尼日利亚莱基自贸区,建成了非洲第一条跨国电气化铁路——亚吉铁路等。这些年,我们在非洲一共修建了超过15000公里的铁路和城市轨道交通,超过5000公里的公路,合同额超过1200亿美金,这些都在非洲的中资企业里排名第一。

Dai Hegen:

CRCC is"the first brand of Chinese enterprises in Africa", which can beexplained by the numbers "56511". "56" is the 56 years wehave been working in Africa. In 1968, in response to the call of themotherland, we spent eight years building and completing the 1,860-kilometerTazara Railway (Tanzania Zambia Railway). This major artery of Africa hasforged a strong friendship between China and Africa and made us the firstChinese company to enter Africa. "51" refers to 51 countries, among atotal of 54 countries in Africa, and CRCC has operations and branches in 51countries. The "1" means wehave created many “firsts” in Africa in 56 years. We have invested in theconstruction and operation of Nigeria's Lekki Free Trade Zone, China's firstfree trade zone on the African continent, and built Africa's firsttransnational electrified railway, the Addis Ababa–Djibouti Railway. In recentyears, we have built more than 15,000 kilometers of railways and urban railtransit and more than 5,000 kilometers of roads in Africa, with contracts worthmore than 120 billion US dollars, ranking first among Chinese-fundedenterprises in Africa.

张华荣:中国制造为非洲及全球做了重要贡献。为什么叫“非洲鞋王”呢?我们刚到非洲埃塞俄比亚考察的时候,那里从事制鞋的工人只有2000多人,鞋厂只有几十家。我们不但把中国的制鞋技术、生态和产业链带到了埃塞俄比亚,更重要的是把美国的大品牌带到那里去生产。华坚到了埃塞俄比亚后最多的时候员工有12000人,出口创汇占他们国家鞋类出口的67%,当地皮革原材料采购占2/3,我们在中国培养了500多个埃塞俄比亚干部员工,他们现在都在埃塞俄比亚中资企业做管理干部。所以华坚不仅是“非洲鞋王”,更是把真正的工业文明带到了非洲埃塞俄比亚。

Zhang Huarong:

Made in Chinahas made important contributions to Africa and the world. Why Huajian is called"Shoe King in Africa"? When we first visited Ethiopia in Africa,there were only more than 2,000 workers engaged in shoe manufacturing and only dozensof shoe factories. We not only brought China's shoemaking technique, shoeindustry ecology and industrial chain to Ethiopia, but more importantly,brought major American brands to produce there. When Huajian arrived inEthiopia, it recruitted 12,000 employees at its peak, and the foreign exchangeearned from its export accounted for 67% of the country's footwear exports, and the leather procurement accountedfor 2/3 of local leather raw material. We have trained more than 500 Ethiopiancadres and employees in China, who are now working as management cadres inChinese-funded enterprises in Ethiopia. Therefore, Huajian is not only the" Shoe King in Africa", but also brings the real industrialcivilization to Ethiopia in Africa.

毛小菁:中国从1956年就开始对非洲提供援助。通过承担援外项目的实施为中国企业积累了很多经验,熟悉了非洲市场,培养了海外人才。改革开放以后,中非贸易开始逐渐增长,越来越多的中国产品开始进入到非洲。尤其是21世纪以来,随着中非合作论坛的成立,中国企业对非的投资迅速扩大,把中国的发展经验和技术管理经验等都传播到了非洲。随着时代不断发展和技术进步,越来越多新兴领域也开始进入到非洲,包括数字经济、新能源汽车、生物制药等。中国对非合作的领域在不断扩大,方式也在不断创新,产业的合作也在不断升级。

By undertaking andimplementing foreign aid projects, Chinese enterprises have accumulated a lotof experience, got familiar with the African market, and trained overseastalents. After the reform and opening up, China-Africa trade began to growgradually, and more and more Chinese products began to enter Africa. Inparticular, since the beginning of the 21st century, with the establishment ofthe Forum on China-Africa Cooperation ( FOCAC), Chinese enterprises haverapidly expanded their investment in Africa, spreading China's developmentexperience and technology management experience to Africa. With the continuousdevelopment of The Times and technological progress, more and more emergingfields have begun to enter Africa, including digital economy, new energyvehicles, biopharmaceuticals and so on. The fields of China's cooperation withAfrica are constantly expanding, the methods are constantly innovating, and theindustrial cooperation is constantly upgrading.

和振伟:非洲现在有54个国家,将近14亿多人口,处于上升的趋势,预测到2050年,非洲的人口将会达到25亿至30亿的规模。无论是住宅还是城市的管网建设,都跟人口有密切关系。所以当人口快速增长,这时所有的人都要住,所有城市都需要管网的建设,这就对建材的需求非常大。非洲恰恰在建材市场方面比较欠缺,比如卢旺达,很多建材基本全部依靠进口。那么现在对于中国的建材生产企业来说机会很多。

He Zhenwei:

Africa now has54 countries, nearly 1.4 billion people, is on an upward trend, it is predictedthat by 2050, the population of Africa will reach 2.5 billion to 3 billion.Whether it is the construction of housing or urban pipe network, it is closelyrelated to the population. Therefore, when the population is growing rapidly,all people have to live in this time, and all cities need the construction ofpipe networks, which has a very large demand for building materials. Africaprecisely in the building materials market is relatively lacking, such asRwanda, a lot of building materials basically rely on imports. So now there aremany opportunities for China's building materials manufacturers.

王希学:中国铁建和非洲之间的关系可以说是相互吸引,双向奔赴。中国铁建之所能是非洲发展之所需,中国铁建之所需是非洲市场之所有。非洲各国要发展经济,实现工业化必然要大力发展基础设施,而中国铁建有着强大的实施能力以及对非洲市场深入的了解。所以中国铁建是非洲各国发展基础设施的首选,而中国铁建要建设世界一流企业,必然要走国际化的道路,具有巨大潜力的非洲市场也是我们的必争之地。

Wang Xixue: Therelationship between CRCC and Africa can be said to be mutually attractive and beneficial.What CRCC can do is what Africa needs for development, and what CRCC needs iswhat the African market has. In order to develop their economies and achieveindustrialization, African countries must vigorously develop infrastructure,and CRCC has a strong implementation capacity and in-depth understanding of theAfrican market. Therefore, CRCC is the first choice for African countries todevelop infrastructure, and if CRCC wants to build a world-class enterprise, itmust take the road of internationalization, and the African market with hugepotential is also a must for us.
