这是第65天阅读英文版的《傲慢与偏见》。
上篇笔记讲到简和妹妹伊丽莎白对话，说宾利两次邀请她跳舞，她觉得很意外。
妹妹伊丽莎白是怎么回应的呢？
“Did not you? I did for you. But that is one great difference between us. Compliments always take you by surprise, and me never. What could be more natural than his asking you again? He could not help seeing that you were about five times as pretty as every other woman in the room. No thanks to his gallantry for that. Well, he certainly is very agreeable, and I give you leave to like him. You have liked many a stupider person.”
“你想不到这样？我都给你想到了。我们俩之间有很大的不同。称赞总是带给你惊喜，而我从来没有。他又一次的邀请你是多么自然的事啊？你比房间里的其他女人漂亮5倍他不会看不到吧。这不是得益于他的殷勤。当然他是耐看的，我准许你喜欢他。你曾经喜欢过那么多愚蠢的人。”
我把这段英文翻译为中文，但是我翻的意思只是凑合，读之如蜡，我自己就觉得如蜡。

我把其中几个单词查阅给出简洁注释，会适度的补充一些例句，补充例句是为了巩固提高英语的运用。
尽管我们读第一轮的时候，是过一遍故事情节，但是我读英文版《傲慢与偏见》的出发点是想实现英文版的阅读自由，就是能流畅的阅读英文版的文字。
1. surprise
词性：名词
含义：惊讶；意外
用法：“take you by surprise”，“让你感到意外”。
我补充几个例句：
It may well take you by surprise.
这张专辑绝对会让你大吃一惊。
The best flirtatious moments will always take you by surprise.
那精彩的瞬间总能带给你惊喜。
How it happens will take you completely by surprise.
这件事情的发生会让你呆若木鸡。
2. natural
词性：形容词
含义：自然的；理所当然的
用法：“more natural”，“很自然”。
我补充3个例句：
I decided to try for a more natural shot of a fox peering from the bushes.
我决定尝试拍摄一只狐狸从灌木丛中偷窥的一个更自然的镜头。
Simple expressions like "Good morning!" in English will make those sentences more natural to you.
像“Good morning！”这样简单的英语表达会让这些句子对你来说更自然。
In time you will be more natural with me, and laugh, and speak freely.
假以时日，你和我在一起会更加舒服，谈笑自如。
3. pretty
词性：形容词
含义：漂亮的；标致的
用法：夸赞美貌。
4. gallantry
词性：名词
含义：殷勤；绅士风度
用法：“no thanks to his gallantry”，“这并非源于男士的殷勤”。
我补充例句：
It's that time of year, when thoughts turn to romance and gallantry.
那就是一年当中将想法变为浪漫和殷勤的时候。
The qualities idealized by knighthood, such as bravery, courtesy, honor, and gallantry toward women. A manifestation of any of these qualities.
骑士品质被骑士制度所理想化的品质，如勇敢、彬彬有礼、荣誉感以及对女人的殷勤等。这些品质的任一种表现。
5. agreeable
词性：形容词
含义：讨人喜欢的；和蔼可亲的
用法：“易相处”。
6. stupider
词性：形容词（比较级）
含义：更笨的；更愚蠢的
用法：“many a stupider person”，“好多笨的人”。
我补充3个权威例句：
Nothing could be stupider than chasing a 5% gain that even DeMark says will fall apart shortly after.
没有什么比追逐5%的收益更愚蠢的了，就连德马克都说这种收益很快就会瓦解。
This doesn't mean that adolescents are stupider than they used to be.
这并不意味着青少年比过去更愚蠢了。
