“Dear Lizzy!” “Oh! you are a great deal too apt, you know, to like people in general. You never see a fault in anybody. All the world are good and agreeable in your eyes. I never heard you speak ill of a human being in my life.”

用法:“too apt to like people in general”,“太容易对人普遍产生好感”。
The regular Sunday concerts start at 4 pm at 555 Edgecombe Avenue, apt 3F.
The metaphor is strangely apt, but the story that's got AMs hot under the collar is quite different.
One called "Lenders in the Temple" turns on an apt but also somewhat predictable catalog of modern ills.
If people are purely rational, they should be equally apt to accept either bet.
It would be apt to mark the anniversary by welcoming Russia back into the European fold.
2. general
用法:“people in general”,“普遍意义上的人”。
3. fault
用法:“see a fault in anybody”,“看到任何人的缺点”。

1. “Dear Lizzy!”
“Dear”,
2. “Oh! you are a great deal too apt, you know, to like people in general.”
a great deal too apt:“太容易……”。
“apt”,易于……的。
“a great deal”,表示程度。
like people in general:“对人普遍有好感”。
3. “You never see a fault in anybody.”
“never”,从不。
4. “All the world are good and agreeable in your eyes.”
“All the world”,全世界的人。
“good and agreeable”,善良又讨人喜欢。
5. “I never heard you speak ill of a human being in my life.”
“speak ill of”,说……
“in my life”,这辈子。
But, of course, one ought not speak ill of the recently departed.
By the time she graduated from high school, at the age of twenty, she had scarcely ever heard anyone speak ill of Scientology.
Bob Chaundy, former obituaries editor at BBC News, says there used to be a convention in obits, particularly in print, that you didn't speak ill of the dead, but that went by the wayside by the 1980s.
