这位英国老舅就是威廉·卢卡斯爵士。

这是第76天阅读英文版《傲慢与偏见》，从这篇笔记开始，小说就开启了CHAPTER V的阅读，就是第五章。
《傲慢与偏见》第五章主要讲述卢卡斯一家人拜访贝内特家，谈论了梅里顿舞会。
卢卡斯经过商当过市长有贡献被授予威廉•卢卡斯爵士，就是在95版影视上乡村舞会上活跃的那个老年人，宾利称呼他威廉爵士，这个人当时我看影视版的梅里顿舞会时，还纳闷这个老头是谁啊。
卢卡斯一家居住在卢家庄，与贝内特一家居住的地方应该比较近。
卢家大女儿夏洛特，与伊丽莎白是好朋友，她和伊丽莎白的表哥柯林斯后来谈婚论嫁成了亲。
卢家有八个孩子，六个姑娘两个儿子，重点人物是大女儿夏洛特，小说中提到过小公子，其他几个儿女没有重点出现。
18世纪的英国家庭很多都是生育几个儿女，这点与广东省有点相似，粤北粤东粤西很多家庭都是生育几个小孩，傲慢与偏见里的那些伦敦附近的乡镇庄园等场景与广州北部清远城区很近似。
对《傲慢与偏见》这本小说的阅读，我愈加感觉是不是18世纪的英国伦敦与当代的粤港澳大湾区在某种程度有近似度。
进入CHAPTER V的阅读：
Within a short walk of Longbourn lived a family with whom the Bennets were particularly intimate. Sir William Lucas had been formerly in trade in Meryton, where he had made a tolerable fortune and risen to the honour of knighthood by an address to the King, during his mayoralty.
在朗伯恩走一段近路住着一户人家，与贝内特家来往密切。威廉•卢卡斯爵士以前在麦里屯从事贸易，赚了一笔可观的财产，担任市长期间，因向国王进言而获得爵位。

这一段英文主要是介绍威廉爵士的来历，经商，当过市长，给国王进言获得爵士，是个励志人物，他选择在朗伯恩附近居住，说明这片区域综合条件是好的。
这段文字虽短但是有几个生词确实陌生，我给出简洁注释补充例句：
1. intimate
词性：形容词
含义：亲密的；密切的
用法：“particularly intimate”，“格外亲密”
