这可是今年的第一大盛事！还碰上了新春佳节，这完全就是喜上加喜啊！还可以在家里跟着亲戚朋友一遍烤着火炉、磕着瓜子，一边看着选手们紧张刺激的比拼，简直不要太快乐！

这次开幕式将于明天（2月4号），北京时间晚上8点在北京鸟巢举办，总导演还是张艺谋。错过08年奥运开幕式的同学一定要看！

我不禁有点期待，张艺谋导演这次又将讲述怎样的中国故事呢？在今天的节目里，就让我们跟着 Cecilia老师和 Norah老师来走进本次北京冬奥会，了解它前前后后的那些故事吧⬇️

This ceremony is probably equally impressive as the one in 2008, which we know is one of the most iconic opening ceremonies in the history of the Olympic Games. 这次的开幕式可能和2008年的开幕式一样令人震撼，我们知道2008年的开幕式是奥运会历史上最具标志性的开幕式之一。

（1）ceremony /ˈserəmoʊni/ n. 仪式，典礼

讲解：尤其指的是庆祝某一特定事件、成就或纪念日的场合，还有宗教的庆典活动，比如 graduation ceremony「毕业典礼」，a wedding ceremony「婚礼」。那么「开幕式」就是 opening ceremony；对应的「闭幕式」就是closing ceremony.

例句1：He left halfway through theceremony.

他在仪式进行到一半时离开了。

例句2：10000 balloons were released at theceremony.

典礼上放飞了一万个气球。

（2）iconic /aɪˈkɑːnɪk/ adj. 象征性的

延展：stadium /ˈsteɪdiəm/ n. 「体育场，运动场」，而「鸟巢」的官方英文名就是 The National Stadium.

例句1：One of the mosticonicplaces in Beijing is the National Stadium, or we call it: the birds' nest.

北京最具标志性的地方之一是国家体育场，我们叫它鸟巢。

例句2：The Phantom of the Operamust be the mosticonicBroadway musical ever.

《歌剧魅影》一定是百老汇最具代表的一部作品。

China will manage athletes and other inbound participants under a “closed-loop” system. Athletes, coaches, and the media will only be allowed to visit designated Olympics venues using special transportation that is separate from Beijing’s 21.5 million people. 中国将对运动员和其他入境运动员实行“闭环”管理。运动员、教练员和媒体只能使用专用交通工具进入 指定的 奥运场馆，而专用交通工具与北京2150万人口是分开的。

（1）inbound/ˈɪnbaʊnd/ adj. 入境的；归本国的；入站的

讲解：Inbound flights / passengers 意思就是「入境的航班、飞机」；除此之外， 这个单词还可以表示「（火车）入站, 进站」，反义词就是 outbound.

例句1：We expect delays to bothinboundand outbound trains.

预计进站和出站列车都会晚点。

例句2：Japaneseinboundflightsfrom Shanghai were mostly normal over the weekend.

上周末，从上海飞往日本的航班基本正常。

（2）designated /ˈdezɪɡneɪtɪd/ adj. 指定的，标出的

讲解：Designated drivers 原本是指的一群人中同意不喝酒的人，这样他们就可以安全开车送朋友、家人和同事回家。现在在一些国家，已经成为了一个职业，成为「代驾司机」。

例句1：Priority seats aredesignatedseats for the elderly, pregnant, and disabled people.

优先座位是为老年人、孕妇和残疾人指定的座位。

例句2：Didi now offersdesignated driversfor drunk car owners.

滴滴现在可以为醉酒车主提供代驾司机。

（3）venue /ˈvenjuː/ n. （事件的）发生地点，（活动的）场所

讲解：一般指的是「聚会地点（如音乐厅、体育比赛场馆、会场）」等等。另外一个单词，site, 也是表示「场地」，但是通常是建筑物、城镇等的地点，比如 a building or onstruction site「建筑工地」。

例句1：Previous Olympicvenuesin the city will be reused, but we also built a new dome—the Ice Ribbon—specifically for the speed skating competitions.

这座城市以前的奥运场馆将被重新利用，但我们还建造了一个新的圆顶建筑——别名冰丝带——专门用于速度滑冰比赛。

例句2：The band will be playing at 20 differentvenueson their UK tour.

这个乐队在英国巡回演出期间将在20个不同的地点演出。

The CEO of Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) also lavished praise on the Beijing 2022 venues, which he described as "really spectacular, not just the design, but the technical execution". 这位奥林匹克广播服务公司(OBS)的首席执行官也对北京2022年冬奥会的场馆赞不绝口，称其“非常壮观，不仅是设计，还有技术执行”。

（1）lavish /ˈlævɪʃ/ v. 慷慨（或过度）给予

讲解：作动词意思就是 to give a lot of sth, often too much, to sb/sth， 表示「过分给予；滥施」。lavish money, 就是「花钱如流水」，lavish affection, 就是「溺爱，过于关爱」的意思，而 lavish praise 就是表示「盛赞，赞不绝口」。

例句1：Shelavishesmost of her attention on her youngest son.

她对她小儿子过于关爱。

例句2：Theylavishedpraise on the movie.

他们对这部电影赞不绝口。

（2）spectacular /spekˈtækjələr/ adj. 壮观的，令人惊叹的；

spectacle /ˈspektəkl/ n. 精彩的表演；壮观的场面；

例句1：It was aspectacularachievement on their part.

这是他们取得的一项了不起的成就。

例句2：The scenery wasspectacular.

景色非常壮观。

Tickets will be sold exclusively to spectators residing in China's mainland, who meet the requirements of the COVID-19 countermeasures. 门票将只出售给居住在中国大陆、符合新冠肺炎疫情防控要求的观众。

（1）spectator /ˈspekteɪtər/ n. （尤指体育比赛的）观看者，观众；旁观者

区分：Audience 一般指的是「在戏剧、电影、音乐会等活动的观众」。

例句1：Thirty thousandspectatorswatched the final game.

三万观众观看了那场决赛。

例句2：Anaudienceof millions watched the wedding on TV.

几百万观众在电视上观看了婚礼。

（2）countermeasure /ˈkaʊntərmeʒər/ n. 对策；反抗措施

例句1：There are severalcountermeasuresthat can be taken to reduce the likelihood of credit card fraud.

有几个对策可以采取用来减少信用卡欺诈的可能性。

例句2：The rising incidence of drunken driving requirescountermeasures.

针对不断上升的酒后驾驶发生率，我们需要采取对策。
