“泥石流”在中文里既有自然灾难本义，也有网络流行语用法。

1. 最标准、最权威（自然/灾害定译）

️ debris flow/mudslide/mud flow

例：山区发生严重泥石流。

→ A severe debris flow occurred in the mountainous area.

地质、救灾、官方通报的绝对标准术语，无歧义。

2. 最常用、最地道（网络/社媒）

️ an absolute trainwreck / a total mess

例：他是综艺界的泥石流。

→ He's an absolute trainwreck on variety shows. / That performance was a total mess.

trainwreck 是英文互联网高频词，形容“混乱到让人移不开眼”的场面，完美对应“泥石流”那种“又尬又上头”的观感；a total mess 更口语，指“乱来/画风清奇”。

3. 偏“反差萌/打破常规”（娱乐/评价）

️ a breath of fresh air (with chaos) / wonderfully unhinged
