盛唐七言绝句成熟于王昌龄,他是第一位大规模以七绝书写边塞题材的诗人。王昌龄边塞诗兼具两种精神底色,一面是雄浑慷慨的报国风骨,“黄沙百战穿金甲,不破楼兰终不还” 道尽将士誓死破敌的铁血壮志;一面是细腻深沉的戍边悲情,羌笛秋月、万里闺愁、荒场白骨,写尽士卒久役离家、生死无依的孤寂苦楚。刚柔并济、情景交融、虚实相生,将边塞风光、战争纪实、相思闺怨、英雄壮志融为一体,确立“边塞七绝”专属范式,后世李白、李益边塞绝句皆受其滋养。
